My professors at university told me this is the first translation of Polish folk fairy tales since also contains translations of 2 works by Reymont and Sienkiewicz, which have never been published before, complete with classical translations of /5(10).
This book is really important to the Polish culture. From my research, only two compilations of Polish fairy FOLK tales have previously appeared in English: Polish Fairy Tales () - not folk ones but authored by J. Glinski (–), translated by A.
Maude. Those edition contained as few as 7 (!) tales/5(33). This book is a true gem. Every nationality has its folk tales (fairy tales, children's stories) which is reflective of its culture.
